Energy security is not guaranteed in many African metro cities. This has led to a rise in cities considering the route of engaging with IPPs and therefore reducing dependence on the national grid.
There are adequate benefits of incorporating SSEG such as allowing cities/municipalities to purchase cheaper electricity from IPPs as opposed to the national power supplier. However, stakeholders also need to address the realities.
