2022 Event Theme

Collaboration to fast forward Africa’s Energy Transition

Collaboration is a key enabler of the effort that is driving the energy transition; collaboration between public sector and private sector, between utilities, regulators and government. Every every single person and organisation within the energy ecosystem - from generation to distribution, from manufacturer to financier to end user - has a role to play in ensuring the energy system of tomorrow is sustainable, affordable and achievable.

The combined efforts of the international community and the South African government to bring a deal of $8.5 billion to the table to support South Africa's energy transition is an example of such collaboration. During the event, we will explore how such collaboration across the continent can be utilised to mobilise investment and scale up the energy transition.

2022 Programme Focus

The world is already experiencing increasing prices and shortages as the energy transition gains momentum, we will examine the role of both traditional and alternative generation in Africa, understanding the incremental steps toward a clean energy transition that is also reliable and secure.

What to expect in 2022

Energy Storage takes centre-stage

As the role of energy storage comes more to the fore, Enlit Africa will have a strong focus on storage across the various elements of the energy value chain, highlighting how it can be utilised to enhance the value and length of self-generation.

Feedback on the steps to take to install, size, price and finance storage will underpin a number of the discussions.
